Great meeting episode2

This was such a fun meeting but at the same time we managed to get on with preparing our project.
To get a clearer view please click on each one of these images. The photos that I'm able to load with my iPad are rather smaller than I would like, but there might be a way of getting them larger that I don't know about yet.

What a choice!

This lovely little book has been made by Carol and we all liked it so much she's promised to give us a workshop soon.

This is Rhiannon's work in progress. The top half of the photo shows her inspiration and I'm almost certain it's a wall at Plas Tan y Bwlch the bottom half shows her lovely inspiration of it. She's finished this work now but it was not photographed. I'm sure there will be another opportunity shortly.

This is a beautiful quilt in progress by Janine, who is hiding behind it.

Great Meeting

P1000966

This is our new project on the Victoria Pier Colwyn Bay in North Wales. Mary will lead us all as she has already done some wonderful personal work on the subject. These are photos taken of the pier. We will begin by choosing one of them to base our work on.

P1000949

Here is a large finished example of work she brought to inspire us today. This photo does not do it justice.

This is one of the photos Mary brought to show us.

The photos show us just getting settled in on our first day at the Plas (Plas Tan y Bwlch).
Gaynor is making cords.
Joan is creating a name sampler for yet another great-granddaughter!
Rhiannon is inspired by a photo she took of a fern growing from one of the walls at Plas.
Jenny is quilting the quilt she is making as part of Janine`s quilting course in Llandudno.
Carol is making a most delicate journal.
Sue is playing with paints.
Mary`s machine embroidery based on our shoreline. In fact she completed this picture and began another over the week-end. For the rest of us it was like having an incidental master-class.

Exhibition at Mostyn gallery

These are photos of the work made by two creative groups including SerenTex members who took part in a workshop led by Wendy Couling. The other group were members of a Masterclass again taken by Wendy. It was a highly successful exhibition that was first shown in the Adain Avion Olympics 2012 aeroplane body on the promenade in Llandudno. some of the work is also being shown in Venue Cymru and both venues ar e well worth a visit if you live locally or on holiday in Llandudno.

Our new Adain Project with Wendy Couling

Here are a few photos which will demonstrate how much fun we had at our Tuesday workshop with Wendy. We worked on transparencies and Perspex. All this was completely  new to us all, but I think we all went home inspired. The work is based on memories of Llandudno and the exhibition will be called Hanging by a Thread.

These images were very difficult to capture on camera as the workroom has huge roof windows which is wonderful for working, but not ideal to photograph shiny surfaces. Below is a small selection of the work produced.

Exciting Project

The SerenTex textile group has just become involved in a very exciting project called Adain Avion. Read all about it here. We were contacted by Wendy Couling who is a contemporary artist based in Llandudno and here is her website www.wendycouling.com

She recently received funding for a project in conjunction with the Adain Avion event (which will take place in July here in Llandudno). As part of this plans to work with local based textile groups and this is where we came in and two other ladies from the North Wales Embroiderers’Guild, Pat Barry and Cheryl Kersey Brown.

Two weeks late!

Our last meeting was exactly two weeks ago and I apologise to the group for being so lax.

SerenTex 003

There was a good crowd of us there and there are only the ones who decided to wear the same colours. It was such a laugh as everyone who came in took off their coats and we found that we’d all chosen the same colour scheme. Quite unintentional.

I wonder if it could have anything to do with THIS. Never!

SerenTex 009

Rhiannon’s lovely work, missed out of the last post.

Work in progress by Gwyneth.

SerenTex 012

This is WIP and I’m sure it has now been finished. Two weeks is  long time and I’ve forgotten whose it is!

SerenTex 015

This is Carol who is wearing black and white and making more beautiful cards and staying with the same colours obviously.
